The meeting point for the St Maarten East Bike Tour is in Philipsburg, near the cruise port. Here you will meet your friendly, English-speaking guide and after a short introduction and preparation of the bikes you will embark on a little adventure. First you cycle towards the Great Salt Pond. Did you know that this salt lake has played a major role in the history and economy of the island?
After a short climb, you descend again towards Oyster Pond Bay. This picturesque residential area is located on a lagoon that is shared by the Dutch and French parts of the island. After taking in some magnificent views, you continue towards the eastern coastline of Sint Maarten, from where you can even catch a glimpse of the neighboring island of St. Barts.
Then it’s time to visit the beautiful Galion beach, the most famous beach on the island. The view of Orient Bay will show you why it is rightly called “the pearl of the Caribbean.” Next up is a relaxed ride along the Quartier-d’Orléans, which will take you back to the meeting point of the tour.
